How Do I Create And Use Email / Text Templates? (Pro Users)

This feature is available in FollowFox Pro only.

FollowFox Pro allows you to create templates for often used messages, be it email or text*. It eliminates the need to write a message from scratch each time you need it. They're not intended for newsletter or drip campaign purposes, but for quick personalized emails that maintain the relationship with your prospect rather than alienating them with a generic, canned message. You can even insert data from selected fields (using Merge Tags below) to give your messages a truly personalized look and feel.

Creating a Template

To start creating your own Templates, select Customize from the main menu, then tap/click the Template box.

Tap/click the Add Template button   Add Template (if using a desktop) or select Add Template from the context menu ( ) if you're using a phone.

Give your template a Name and write a Subject that will be used in your emails when you use this template.

Next, write a short message. FollowFox allows you to write messages up to 300 characters in length.

Merge Tags allow you to create a placeholder that will be replaced with contact details when you send the email. This allows you to create a template with a personal touch. The merge tags are replaced when previewing your email, so you see exactly what will be sent.

Built-in Merge tags

  • %name% - Name
  • %informal_name% - Informal Name
  • %email% - Email Address
  • %spouse_name% - Spouse's Name

An Example Using A Merge Tag

What the template shows . . .

Hi %informal_name%! It was really nice to meet you! Here's my contact information as promised. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any service to you. I'd love to explore how we might work together, too :-)

Sincerely,
Frank

What your contact receives (assuming his Informal Name is Joe) . . .

Hi Joe! It was really nice to meet you! Here's my contact information as promised. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of any service to you. I'd love to explore how we might work together, too :-)

Sincerely,
Frank

To Use A template

  1. Tap the message icon   or the email icon   from within a contact's profile.
  2. Select the template you wish to use from the dropdown list. You can skip this step if you don't want to use a template.
  3. Tap Send Email or Send Text Message. FollowFox will launch the appropriate app on your device with your template. You can modify the message before sending it, if you like.
  4. Click/tap the send icon from your app -- that's it! FollowFox will take you directly to the Log Followup screen, even filling in certain fields for you, so you can log your interaction.

Unfortunately, some texting apps don't play nice with other programs. Your messaging app may or may not work with FollowFox Pro's texting feature. If you're using a third-party app in place of your phone's native app you may find this to be the case.

Still, even if your texting app has taken its ball and gone home, you can still text by tapping the phone icon and accessing your texting app that way. Of course, you won't get to use the spiffy templates you created, but it's not our fault your texting app doesn't like to share!
